SPPS makes and sells the world’s only true large horsepower single-phase electric motors. SPPS has secured an exclusive right to the proprietary and patented electric Written-Pole TM motor technology developed years ago but never successfully commercialized. Prior to this new technology, large-horsepower electric motors required three-phase power typically only found in cities or industrial areas. If you lived or worked in a rural area and needed a large horsepower motor, your only choices were to run a diesel or natural gas engine or install a phase convertor or, more recently, a VFD. Our motors offer considerable operational and cost advantages over these alternatives.

The EPA has recently issued significant emissions compliance regulations for fossil  fuel engines which add operational cost and complexity. With this new single-phase power technology, it is possible to operate large horsepower single-phase electric motors almost anywhere electric power is available at a substantial savings over fossil fuel engines while eliminating EPA concerns.

Our motors typically generate rates of return for end users in the 20% to 50% range. Our target markets include agriculture, oil/gas industries, construction, dairy operations, city water supply, lake aeration, and golf course watering.

The application of this technology to electric motors yields many desirable characteristics, including very low starting current requirements, high operating efficiency, unity power factor operation, instantaneous restart capability, the ability to synchronize under load, and the capability to start very high-inertia loads without oversizing.

Our motors are field tested and known to be reliable. Roughly 600 beta-motors have been sold by the technology’s inventors over the past 15 years and most of these are still in operation. The technology has been used by customers who demand high levels of reliability such as the US Weather Service, Federal Aviation Authority, US Air Force and large-scale irrigation farming.
