Drew Abbott, President

drewTogether with business partners Greg York and Mike Running, Drew formed Single Phase Power Solutions to bring the clean, efficient, reliable Written-Pole® technology developed by John Roesel and Ronnie Barber to those who have been limited to the constraints of stationary combustion engines.

Drew is also the founder of Sparrow Capital, LLC, a small business resource provider which has raised over $12 million in financier support for a broad range of clients.

Drew’s first career was on the stage as an opera singer, but he has always had the entrepreneurial spirit. He is a graduate of William Jewell College, and holds graduate degrees with honors from Boston University and the University of Cincinnati. Drew lives with his two children in Cincinnati where he is active in the community and in his church, Vineyard Central.

Greg York, Vice President of Operations

gregGreg co-founded SPPS and directs the production and development aspects of the company. Greg has 24 years of experience managing and improving Global Supply Chains and Total Enterprise Planning for Procter & Gamble. Greg holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Case Western Reserve University.

His success record includes:

30-50% improvements to business results (Profit, Customer Service, Productivity, Expenses, Inventory) Implementation of Sales & Operation Planning and Total Enterprise Planning solutions for $1-10 billion businesses. Broad-based consulting services provided for several Fortune 50-500 Companies at the Executive and Operational levels (Walmart, Target, Food Lion, Hannaford, Center City, Foot Sloggers Outdoor Adventure Group)
As Sales and Operations Planning Manager for Asia, a position reporting to the President, he oversaw 14% improvements in profit over two years. He implemented solutions that resulted in improved business decision making, leading to improved profit, greater sales, improved customer service, lower production costs and inventory. He was responsible for Total Business Planning for $2 billion in annual sales.

Prior to this, Greg was Global Sales and Operations Planning Implementation Manager with execution responsibilities across 10 businesses at Procter & Gamble and other Fortune 50 companies. He showed 20% – 50% improvements in Profit, Inventory, Customer Service, and New Product Launch results.

As the North American Supply Chain Integration Leader for the $3 billion Clairol acquisition, Greg oversaw 310% incremental profit over four years by integrating the P&G/Clairol Supply Chain planning, Manufacturing and Distribution systems, and leading the optimization of the combined supply chains.

For his final 15 years at Procter and Gamble, Greg was a top rated performer/employee (in the top 5% of all employees) annually. His awards and recognitions include membership in the Presidents Club for Supply Chain Innovation, being named a National Sales Development Leader, Diversity Coach of the Year, and earning the Top Supply Chain Partner Improvement Award.

Dennis Taffe – VP Finance & New Business Development

  • Senior executive with experience in general management, financial management, corporate development and new business development.

  • African market business development & contract negotiations (AT&T).

  • General Management, P&L management, budgeting, risk, and treasury management for $100 Million to $3 Billion business.

  • Succeeded in large organizations (AT&T, Convergys), smaller companies, start ups and turnarounds.

Adam Shaw, Lead Engineer

adamAdam Shaw is a design engineer who has worked with several startup companies, cooperatives and Fortune 500 companies. He brings creative problem solving, efficiency, and optimization skills to SPPS, where he has the responsibility of leading the technical and motor production teams. Additionally, Adam leads the technology transfer and quality assurance programs for SPPS.

As co-founder of a startup, Deeper Roots Coffee, Adam has demonstrated his leadership by guiding his team to achieve national prominence. He is a Design Impact Fellow who has worked in South India as an onsite engineer for social design/humanitarian engineering. As Product Designer with Kinetic Vision, his design upgrades were incorporated in new product releases and he optimized procedures for rapid prototype design and automated physical testing. While working for Goodrich Aircraft wheel and brakes division, he developed a system for measuring tire inflation pressure drop which in cost analysis showed annual savings of $90,000.

Adam holds a BS in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Cincinnati, and he has served as the President of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers.

Ronnie J. Barber, Chief Consulting Engineer

ronRonnie Barber serves as the Written-Pole® technology expert at SPPS and is the co-patent owner of numerous US and foreign Written-Pole® motor and generator patents assigned to Precise Power Corporation. These patents are the basis of the single-phase motors that SPPS builds today. In his long career, Mr. Barber has had extensive experience in magnetic circuitry and electronic controls. He is responsible for electrical engineering R&D, electronic controls design and testing at the SPPS Sarasota Production Facility. SPPS is extremely fortunate to have Mr. Barber, the leading authority on Written-Pole technology, on our team.

He holds an Electrical Engineering degree from Auburn University, Alabama and was Professor of EE for 7 years at the State College of Florida in Bradenton. He was a Captain in the US Army and was in the Florida National Guard. He has served as the President/Director of Precise Power Corporation since 2003.

Deborah L. Slottke, Production Facility Administrator

Deborah serves SPPS as the administrator at our Production and Service Center in Sarasota, FL. She brings years of experience with SPPS’s products and manufacturing technology.

She grew up in Wisconsin and earned an associate degree in 1978. She began her career in banking before moving to various roles at Precise Power Corp. There she has supported the Sales and Marketing Dept., Field Service and Senior Management. Since 2003, Ms. Slottke has been working hand-in-glove with, Mr. Ronnie Barber. She was also privileged to support Precise Power Corp.’s former Chairman/CEO, Mr. John Roesel.

Robin Brown – Manager Production & Service Center

  • Experienced professional, project administration, management, and technical engineering disciplines.

  • Daughter of motor technology inventor. 20 years experience with Written-Pole technology.

  • Deep technical mastery, led production team and field service team for Precise Power Corp.

  • Associate of Science degrees in Paralegal, Electronics, Electrical Engineering – State College of Florida

Dale Friesen – Technical Adviser: Electrical Utilities, Distribution, Application, & Canadian Sales

  • Professional Engineer with 25 years experience developing and implementing energy conservation and energy efficiency programming.

  • Adoption of evolving energy technologies for improved productivity and enhanced energy utilization.

  • Electrical Engineer from University of Manitoba, Professional Engineer
